A Platform Stairlift Built Around Your Staircase

The PLG7 handles straight staircases, while the PLK8 is designed for curved and more complex routes. It can follow changes in direction and elevation, travel around intermediate landings, and serve multiple levels, with stops and parking positions planned around the staircase.

Both models can be mounted directly to a suitable wall or supported by steel stanchions, giving greater flexibility where wall mounting isn’t appropriate.*

Space-Saving Access When You Need It

When the lift isn’t needed, the platform folds automatically against the staircase, leaving more room for people using the stairs on foot.

Integrated ramps provide wheelchair access to the platform, while an anti-slip surface supports secure entry and exit. Optional front access gives more flexibility where the landing space or staircase layout makes side access less suitable.

Safety Built Into Everyday Operation

Safety features work around the user throughout the journey. Automatic safety arms secure the platform during travel, while contacts on all sides can detect obstructions. The platform also has an anti-slip surface, alongside accessible emergency stop and emergency call controls.

Internal and External Platform Stairlifts

The Ascendor PLG7 & PLK8 can be installed both internally and externally, making them suitable for a wide range of accessibility requirements.ย

  • In the home, they can provide wheelchair access between different levels while following the existing staircase.ย
  • For public and commercial buildings, they offer a complete way to improve access where stairs present a barrier.

For external installations, the Ascendor has an IP54 protection class, which means its internal components remain protected against water splashes from all directions. This allows the lift to be used outdoors, providing an option for external steps and staircases as well as internal routes.

With straight and curved configurations available, the system can be planned around the staircase and setting.

Finishes and Optional Features

Accessibility equipment doesn’t have to look out of place. The Ascendor offers a choice of colours, finishes, and optional details to help it sit comfortably within its surroundings.

Platform Stairlift Installation

Depending on the staircase and building, the Ascendor travel rail can be mounted directly to a suitable wall or installed using steel stanchions.

The lift sits alongside the existing staircase, with key components accessible for ongoing maintenance. The travel rail can also be extended after installation if the lift later needs to serve an additional landing or level.

Why Choose Gartec?

Gartec has over 30 years of experience in platform lifts, helping homeowners, architects, contractors, and organisations find the right accessibility solution for their buildings.

We’ll help assess your requirements, specify the appropriate Ascendor configuration, and manage the lift installation process. Once installed, our team can continue to support your lift with ongoing servicing and maintenance.

We had a limited budget and Gartec worked out the very best option and price for us, they ensured we got the correct people involved regarding the design of the hole for the lift to travel through, and we duly placed the order. We had some misgivings about what we ordered as we were concerned about how it would look when it was installed and how obtrusive it would be, indeed we decided to amend the order so the lift had glass sides and wow! How glad we are that we did. The communication was first class all through and the aftercare has been very good.

I examined the market for a suitable lift for our premises, and Gartec had a lift that would fit into our small bar area and would not be too obtrusive, hence making contact and requesting someone visit to look at the site and advise on the best option for us, we are a grade 2 listed building and were having problems getting the planning permission for the lift to be installed where it would serve us best, Gartec made contact and arranged to visit us. Gartec was very professional and most helpful, and much more interested in getting it right for us than any of the other suppliers.

The cricket club is currently being used as a COVID vaccination centre and the lift is essential for those of limited mobility. Hence it was important to get the work done as soon as possible and on a day when the centre wasnโ€™t in use.ย  Weโ€™re very grateful for the swift response from Gartec, the service engineer was also very competent and helpful.

Plymouth Cricket Club

“We turned to Gartec, and their innovative moving floor design. It was an attractive and successful option taking only 6 days to fit. The safety features include a remote lock and a Smart app operation from an iPhone, so parents can ensure no trapped fingersย  or โ€˜junior joyridingโ€™ โ€“ perfect for a family house. We have been impressed with both the product and professional installation, and would certainly consider Gartec again for another Octagon home.”

Anton Dummer, Octagon Developments

“Both our Architect and Building Manager found Gartec Home professional, organised and proactive, and the installation process went smoothly. All the people my husband and I have dealt with have been helpful, and any queries dealt with quickly. The end result is totally integral to the build and reflects the modern architectural style.”

Hazel Coomber, Brentwood

โ€œI would like to say that everyone at Gartec has been very helpful. The lift is my lifeline and enables me to live here.โ€

Barbara, Stourbridge

โ€œThe Gartec Home team were friendly and knowledgeable, they kept me informed and even tidied everything up at the end!โ€

Mary Jones, Abingdon

โ€œGartec offered a quick turnaround using a high-quality lift solution. It was important to have lifts that would complement the design and quality of the rest of the houses. The Gartec lifts offered this and only required a short installation period carried out by two friendly engineers. I am pleased with the overall look of the lifts installed and they will contribute to the townhouses being desirable to a bigger market. We look forward to working together again.โ€

Keith Perfect, Bellwood Homes
