Gartec provides a low energy alternative lift
Lookers (Jaguar and Land Rover) latest 16,193 square foot dealership facility in Buckinghamshire required two Gartec lifts. From Architect stage, Gartec provided direction and assistance to the project Architects, Taylor Design – Wilmslow. Gartec and Lookers have previously worked together, with Gartec installing a number of lifts at their other branch locations.
The client brief was for a solution with minimal builders and structural work to provide essential compliance for the provision of equal accessibility in the showroom and a cost effective, goods lifting solution with a small footprint suitable for carrying spare parts.
The Gartec 7000 Platform Lift was recommended for the Showroom, and the Gartec 7000 Flexi as a goods platform for the stores department which met the client brief, being fully compliant with all the latest legislative requirements.
Gartec have worked on many JLR and other car showroom projects with the Main Contractor, BDB Design Build Sheffield. Working alongside Rob Henshaw, Project Manager for BDB describes ‘the Operations and Installation staff at Gartec regularly provide their experience and expertise in delivering a high-level installation and finish, on time and on budget.’
The Gartec 7000 lift, designed by our parent company Aritco, is a public and commercial lift which uses patented screw and nut technology. The lift includes low energy consumption, safety features whilst allowing customisation. Larger sizes are Part M and Equality Act compliant.
Similarly, the Gartec 7000 Light Goods Lift can carry passengers, but is also designed to carry goods with a raised kerb edge for goods protection. These 7000 lifts offer safe transportation between floors, without requiring a machine room, head fixing or pump box housing.
Within the spare-parts department the lift is used frequently throughout the day, it allows boxes and trolleys to be transported between floors easily and safely, only using a small amount of energy compared to a conventional lift installation.
The standard white RAL 9016 colour was selected for the door and lift walls, the design of the lift blends both within the showroom and the spare-part departments. John Darlington, Health and Safety Facilities Office at Lookers described the lift as ‘so well blended’ into the rest of the design scheme and ‘so quiet’, you wouldn’t know it was installed.
Gartec and Lookers have a great relationship, John Darlington commented across the three branches he manages (Battersea, West London and Buckinghamshire) ‘Gartec are one of the most reliable suppliers and look to specify Gartec’. Only recalling ‘one small problem on one of the lifts over the last couple of years where Gartec responded so quickly, the service engineer came out the same afternoon. The Gartec team are always pleasant and responsive and the service team are always very friendly and professional.’
