Do I need planning permission to install the UnaPorte® platform step lift? |
In most residential settings, the UnaPorte® can be installed under permitted development if it’s not structurally altering the property. Commercial or public buildings may require approval depending on access routes and exterior changes. Planning requirements vary by location and should be confirmed with local authorities. Our team can advise during an initial assessment. |
How weather-resistant is the UnaPorte® outdoors? |
The lift carries an IP54 protection rating, with internal components protected from dust and moisture when installed in accordance with manufacturer guidance. |
How loud is the lift during operation? |
The UnaPorte® is designed for smooth operation. It is generally quieter than traditional platform lifts and suitable for both residential and public internal environments. |
What electrical requirements are needed for installation? |
The lift operates on a standard 220–240 V, 1-phase, 16A supply. Because travel between stops is battery-powered, mains usage is minimal, and charging occurs automatically when the lift is idle. |
How much space is needed around the lift for access and maintenance? |
The UnaPorte® has a compact footprint, and maintenance access is built into the lifting column and drive housing. Only minimal clearance is required at each landing to allow the door to open safely and provide suitable manoeuvring space for wheelchair users. |
Can the lift be retrofitted into existing buildings? |
Yes, retrofitting is one of the UnaPorte®’s core advantages. With no pit requirement, split rails for easy transport, and installation often completed within two days, it can be added to existing properties with minimal disruption. |
Is the platform suitable for mobility scooters? |
The platform size and load capacity may be suitable for some mobility scooters. Our team can confirm suitability by checking your scooter length, turning radius, and safe boarding space during a site survey. |
*The UnaPorte® can provide travel up to 3 metres in residential settings. In commercial or public environments, vertical travel above 2 metres requires installation within a lift-way enclosure (shaft) to meet current safety standards. Open platform step lifts are therefore generally limited to 2 metres in these settings.
Where 2–3 metres of travel is proposed for commercial use, approval must be obtained from the relevant Building Control Officer and the building’s insurance inspector prior to installation.
