We had a limited budget and Gartec worked out the very best option and price for us, they ensured we got the correct people involved regarding the design of the hole for the lift to travel through, and we duly placed the order. We had some misgivings about what we ordered as we were concerned about how it would look when it was installed and how obtrusive it would be, indeed we decided to amend the order so the lift had glass sides and wow! How glad we are that we did. The communication was first class all through and the aftercare has been very good.

I examined the market for a suitable lift for our premises, and Gartec had a lift that would fit into our small bar area and would not be too obtrusive, hence making contact and requesting someone visit to look at the site and advise on the best option for us, we are a grade 2 listed building and were having problems getting the planning permission for the lift to be installed where it would serve us best, Gartec made contact and arranged to visit us. Gartec was very professional and most helpful, and much more interested in getting it right for us than any of the other suppliers.

The cricket club is currently being used as a COVID vaccination centre and the lift is essential for those of limited mobility. Hence it was important to get the work done as soon as possible and on a day when the centre wasn’t in use.  We’re very grateful for the swift response from Gartec, the service engineer was also very competent and helpful.

How much space does a home lift need?

Our home lifts are designed with compact footprints, often no larger than a standard wardrobe. With built-in shaft enclosures and options for cupboard-to-cupboard or stairwell void installations, you don’t need extensive space or major structural changes.

How much does a home lift cost?

Prices include expert installation and a minimum warranty of two years (see warranties FAQ below).

How long does installation take?

Most Gartec home lifts can be installed in just a few days, depending on the model and site requirements. Only minimal building work is required – typically just a small opening in the ceiling or a shallow pit – meaning less disruption to your home.

Can a home lift be fitted into an existing property?

Yes. Our lifts are modular and self-supporting, so they don’t rely on load-bearing walls. This makes them suitable for retrofitting in most homes, even where space is limited or ceilings are sloped. Our team will work with you to design a custom solution.

Are home lifts safe for children?

Safety is at the heart of every Gartec lift. Features include smart door sensors that reopen if obstructed, emergency stop buttons, safety edges, and battery backup for safe lowering during a power cut. Optional key locks and child-lock functions provide extra reassurance for families.

Do home lifts add value to a property?

Yes. A home lift makes multi-level living more practical and appealing, particularly to buyers looking for long-term accessibility. By providing easier movement between floors and improved everyday comfort, a home lift can increase the value and marketability of your home.

What’s the cost compared to moving to a bungalow?

Installing a home lift is often more cost-effective than selling and moving to a single-storey property. It allows you to stay in the home you love, avoid the expense of moving, and adapt your space for future needs.

Do home lifts use a lot of electricity?

No. Gartec lifts use energy-efficient screw and nut drive systems and small motors, often consuming less power than a standard household kettle or hairdryer. This keeps running costs low while reducing environmental impact.

What maintenance is required?

We recommend at least two service visits per year. Our in-house engineers carry out full safety checks, lubrication, and cleaning, with optional service packages for ongoing care, emergency call-outs, and LOLER inspections.

What warranties do Gartec home lifts come with?

All home lifts in our range include a minimum two-year warranty as standard. Our Aritco range comes with an extended five-year warranty, plus ten years on the screw and nut drive system. Vimec and Barduva models are covered by the standard two-year Gartec warranty, ensuring reliable protection across the full range.

Is the BC Platform Stair Lift (Straight) still available?

The BC Platform Stair Lift (Straight) remains available on request for suitable projects. This inclined platform lift provides safe, economical access up straight staircases, indoors or outdoors, and is often chosen where space is limited or a vertical lift isn’t required. 

For most homes, our main lift range offers the ideal solution, but we can supply this alternative if your project calls for it.
