Solving Space Limitations in Housing – Our Compact Lift Range

Traditional lifts require substantial space and structural modifications, making them unsuitable for many properties with narrow stairwells or tight layouts. These constraints can limit accessibility improvements, leaving residents struggling with mobility. Our range of compact home lifts offers an ideal solution, providing space-efficient, adaptable lift options that fit seamlessly into even the most challenging environments.

Space Constraints in Older Buildings

Space constraints in older or compact buildings present a significant barrier to accessibility improvements. This challenge is particularly relevant in the UK, where 20% of homes were built before 1919 and 24% were built after 1980. Many older buildings were also not designed with modern accessibility needs in mind. As the population ages and the demand for accessible housing grows, housing associations must find ways to retrofit these properties without extensive renovations or structural modifications.

How Our Home Lifts Solve Spacial Challenges

Our home lifts are engineered to be spatially efficient, offering versatile options that improve accessibility without the need for extensive building work.

Compact Design

The Aritco HomeLift Compact is a prime example of a lift designed to fit into small spaces. As one of the most compact models on the market, it requires only the footprint of a small wardrobe, making it ideal for properties with limited room or narrow layouts.

Despite its size, the Aritco HomeLift Compact offers full accessibility, enabling residents to move easily between floors. Its sleek, minimal design ensures that it doesn’t intrude on the home’s existing space, allowing housing associations to enhance accessibility without sacrificing functionality or aesthetics.

Minimal Structural Modifications

Traditional lifts often require major structural modifications, such as deep pits or separate machine rooms, which can be a barrier to installation in older buildings. Our home lifts eliminate these issues – each is designed with a modular structure that can be installed with minimal disruption. This approach is faster and more cost-effective, while preserving the integrity of older properties.

Flexible Installation Options

Our home lifts can be adapted to fit various building layouts, making them suitable for even the most challenging spaces. Whether it’s a tight stairwell, a corner, or a narrow hallway, each of our home lifts can be customised to fit seamlessly into different environments.

This flexibility allows housing associations to improve accessibility in properties that would otherwise be unsuitable for traditional lifts, ensuring that no resident is left without access to the upper floors of their home.

Real-World Benefits for Housing Associations

Maximising Property Usage

In properties where stairs pose a challenge for those with mobility issues, installing a compact lift opens up the entire building, allowing residents to move freely between floors. This significantly improves the quality of life for tenants and increases the potential occupancy of multi-storey properties – adding long-term value to the housing stock.

Avoiding Disruptive Renovations

Housing associations can retrofit lifts without the need for major structural modifications, avoiding the noise, dust, and extended time frames associated with traditional renovations. Our quick, efficient installation process ensures that residents experience minimal inconvenience while accessibility is improved.

Long-Term Value

With a Gartec home lift, housing associations can future-proof their properties, ensuring they remain accessible and desirable for years to come. Plus, the low maintenance requirements and long lifespan of our range make them a cost-effective, long-term solution for improving accessibility in any building.

We had a limited budget and Gartec worked out the very best option and price for us, they ensured we got the correct people involved regarding the design of the hole for the lift to travel through, and we duly placed the order. We had some misgivings about what we ordered as we were concerned about how it would look when it was installed and how obtrusive it would be, indeed we decided to amend the order so the lift had glass sides and wow! How glad we are that we did. The communication was first class all through and the aftercare has been very good.

I examined the market for a suitable lift for our premises, and Gartec had a lift that would fit into our small bar area and would not be too obtrusive, hence making contact and requesting someone visit to look at the site and advise on the best option for us, we are a grade 2 listed building and were having problems getting the planning permission for the lift to be installed where it would serve us best, Gartec made contact and arranged to visit us. Gartec was very professional and most helpful, and much more interested in getting it right for us than any of the other suppliers.

The cricket club is currently being used as a COVID vaccination centre and the lift is essential for those of limited mobility. Hence it was important to get the work done as soon as possible and on a day when the centre wasn’t in use.  We’re very grateful for the swift response from Gartec, the service engineer was also very competent and helpful.

“We turned to Gartec, and their innovative moving floor design. It was an attractive and successful option taking only 6 days to fit. The safety features include a remote lock and a Smart app operation from an iPhone, so parents can ensure no trapped fingers  or ‘junior joyriding’ – perfect for a family house. We have been impressed with both the product and professional installation, and would certainly consider Gartec again for another Octagon home.”

Anton Dummer, Octagon Developments

“Both our Architect and Building Manager found Gartec Home professional, organised and proactive, and the installation process went smoothly. All the people my husband and I have dealt with have been helpful, and any queries dealt with quickly. The end result is totally integral to the build and reflects the modern architectural style.”

Hazel Coomber, Brentwood

“I would like to say that everyone at Gartec has been very helpful. The lift is my lifeline and enables me to live here.”

Barbara, Stourbridge

“The Gartec Home team were friendly and knowledgeable, they kept me informed and even tidied everything up at the end!”

Mary Jones, Abingdon

“Gartec offered a quick turnaround using a high-quality lift solution. It was important to have lifts that would complement the design and quality of the rest of the houses. The Gartec lifts offered this and only required a short installation period carried out by two friendly engineers. I am pleased with the overall look of the lifts installed and they will contribute to the townhouses being desirable to a bigger market. We look forward to working together again.”
